PARENTS

Sunshard

V'liynidan Sunshard - from a small, rather reclusive family of mages situated near the border of Quel'thalas and Lordaeron. A unspecificed incident led to V'liynidan's deep hatred of humans and their ways, and a lingering disdain for the Light. "Human frippery," he always said, with a sneer wide enough to bare teeth.

Nieydrus Sunshard I - uncle, younger brother to V'liynidan. Not a common fixture in Iiloridan's life with little interest in his niece and nephews; primarily only came around to visit with his brother.

Others currently unknown.

Brightquill - members one of the caravans of made up of a extended family of merchants and trade smiths, with a number of warriors/Breakers among them for protection. Travelled between Quel'thalas and Lordaeron and sometimes further afield. Carts, Quel'dorei horses, hawkstriders. Brightquill specialized in training and breeding animals from other lands - especially birds, like ravens and crows - cultivating their own breeds for use by rangers and others. And, of course, making excellent quills from shed feathers. Gold-tipped Quel'dorei corvids were a work-in-progress.

Were unfortunately camped outside Silvermoon's gates when the siege occurred. Killed down to the last.

Shalyndr Brightquill - instead of becoming a merchant with her large family, decided to stay in Silvermoon to train under the breakers - becoming one of the Elite Spellbreakers and a city guard in later years.

Met one V'liynidan Sunshard early on in her training, while seeking out agreeable -crazy- mages to practice more practical spellbreaking on.

He wanted someone to practice on, too, and a idiot spellbreaker-in-training was just the one to take it. They bickered, fought, accidentally injured one another, purposely injured one another, and stomped out more than once, vowing to never return.

It ended as a most violent of courtships and a wedding.

Nieydrus Sunshard II - Firstborn child of Shalyndr and V'liynidan, the apple of his father's eye. Dark of hair and dry in personality. Mage. Married before the siege of Quel'thalas and fathered one infant son.

Ruen Sunshard - Secondborn Sunshard child, only daughter; also a mage. Pale red hair. Currently retains identity of Quel'dorei rather than Sin'dorei, complete with blue eyes. Allied with the Silver Covenant.

Iiloridan Sunshard - As the youngest of three, his mother doted on the Iiloridan as a boy. Always ready with a kind word or gentle hand, the sun rose and set in his mother's eyes, as far as Lori was concerned. Her disappointment was to be avoided at all costs, and he was something of a unrepentant 'mama's boy' because of it. She often took him down to the caravan when it was in town, to meet with all his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Unfortunately for young Iiloridan, he couldn't seem to do -anything- right in his father's eyes.

He was too loud, he was too quiet; he was too meek, he was too willful; his interests were foolish - he should spend more time studying the arcane, like a good Sunshard lad! It did not help that his elder brother mirrored and mimicked their father, more in personality than form. The disdain he held for his youngest sibling was never as heartfelt as their father's, but aped none the less.

The father and son shared only two things: a deep loathing of Trolls, and a love of enchanting.

They attempted to bond over enchanting, with some of their best times together shared over an enchanting table: father, in a rare good mood, teaching son how to weave delicate spells into glass baubles and silk, and how to brand heavy protective glyphs into armor plate. But the good humors got fewer and farther between the older Lori got, and approval over spellwork was weak when disapproval over failure only got more pronounced.

He never did get a clear answer about why his father disliked him so - his mother could never seem to articulate it in his father's stead, but there was no question of his parentage. Aside from the cast of his skin, which matched his darker-toned mother, he was the spitting image of V'liynidan. Perhaps the elder elf could sense the call of the Light in his youngest child - or the ever-seeking reach of Shadow. Either way, it never became less than icy between them, and it didn't take Lori long to stop trying to win his father's affections, and start rebelling instead.

--

But he never did start down the path of the Light, at least not while his father was alive. Instead, he rebelled in a different way - forsaking the arcane entirely, and reaching for daggers instead of honorable sword and shield.

A mage's son, skulking around in alleys and darkness, killing for money? Iiloridan would never learn how close he came to being disowned if not for his mother's stern hand staying his father's word.

He only managed an apprenticeship because less reputable rogues rarely give a rat's arse about sponsors or permissions - as long as they the coin and talent, any runaway elvish waif can learn a few tricks with a dagger. And given his talent with the shadows, Iiloridan was well on his way to making his chosen 'master' pleased with picking him up.

Rogue history:

Ranked very high in matters of stealth; average in combat and knife-work. Has a number of kills to his name, both on the official records and 'off' the records, as do most assassination rogues occasionally in the employ of their factional government. No more than the averagely skilled rogue; mostly centered around places outside Quel'thalas. Iiloridan has always shied away from killing other elves, as a matter of racial pride. Only known traitors and deviants would be on the elvish kill list. Trolls, Orcs, and humans, on the other hand...

Kills in Gilneas, before the Wall, and Lordaeron are most common, with a few as far south as Stormwind itself. He is a very well-traveled elf.

Saw a few minor spots of action during the Second War, as a scout/assassin, commissioned and stationed around the borders of Quel'thalas.

Saw major, major action in the Third War, once the Scourge came to Quel'thalas. Not many records likely remain, as it was chaotic and few survived to keep said records. Fought among thousands of others in the heart of the dead scar. Joined the shattered but regrouping forces attempting to push back the Scourge. The deeds of 'Iiloridan the Rogue' fade from record at this time.

Priesthood:

With many now-Sin'dorei forsaking the ways of the Light after the fall of Quel'thalas - and many, many more already dead - finding someone to teach a burgeoning priest was not easy. Iilordan's skills languished in the weeks and months after the purge. The Light had awakened in him in his moment of need, but now his informal talent with the shadow was fading in response.

The next major records take place many years later, when the war goes to the Lich King himself. Fully allied with the Sunreavers and lightly joined with the Argent Crusade, Iiloridan joined the fight as a fully-fledged priest. Fighting in various engagements around Northrend, the Tournament, and all the way to the gates of Icecrown itself.

It would be the largest note/commendation in his files.

Later engagements would mostly hold only minor notes.

[WIP]

Notably joined with the Sunreaver Onslaught during the Pandarian campaign.

Currently: engaged in Draenor, aiding the Horde. Serves as a healer/snarky advisor in Horde Garrison.
